Hi Guys, I was at the LA Auto Show this weekend kicking tires, and came across the Bert's M/C Dealer display of the 3 wheeled Can Am Spyder. Looks pretty interesting and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with one of these. It might be something that could replace my BMW R1150RT to do some touring with my wife. Any thoughts ?
Thanks for the offer of the MCN article, but I already subscribe. I ended up trading my '02 1150 RT for a used '08 Spyder Roadster and have put about 3000 miles on it in the last couple of months. So far, I must admit that it's better than I ever imagined. Fun around town, actually very practical with the large trunk, and I did a long weekend of about 900 miles on the Greenhorn Road Tour in May. It's like of riding a quad on the street, but lower and wider, and very stable. It helps that my wife loves it, and I have added the Corbin trunk/backrest. We will do a few sport touring weekends this fall and see how it goes. Thanks, Mark Miller
I have an interesting article on this bike by Fred Rau from the July, '09 edition of Motorcycle Consumer News. If your computer can handle stuff from a Mac I can scan it and then E-mail it to you in an attachment.

They look kinda cool, but I wouldn't ever own one. They sit kinda low, and it's hard to be seen on one. Not that most motorcycles aren't low, but I don't ever see myself as a Spyder owner.

a friend of mine has one, she loves it. she needed a nice cruise control and came by my shop so i could install our 50s boy "throttler" cruise control. it installed easily and she loves it. the spyder has alot of great features, you should look at one in person and ride one, i thought it was very cool. check out the can am spyder web site, lots of accessories are coming out for them. they look like a lot of fun.
What? no lane sharing? I would like to try one out, but thats about it. I suppose for long trips and highway touring it would be ok. Just not my bag, baby!
